Statement of Purpose

The purpose of the Grossmont Union High School District Advisory Council (DAC) is to serve in an advisory capacity to the school district and to serve as a communication link between the schools and communities which constitute the school district.

DAC members have the opportunity to:

          • Promote school activities     
          • React to new school programs and activities
          • Encourage and promote District unity through support of district
          • wide programs and activities
          • Serve as a sounding board for student concerns, parent concerns,
          community concerns, administrative concerns, and local school

DAC Meetings  


Meetings are regularly attended by:

           DAC representatives from each school's parent organization and
  other school groups
Superintendent or appointed representative
2007-2008 Meeting Schedule or Calendar


Meetings may be attended by:

·         Board of Education members, school principals,
  and contributing
program presenters
Presidents of each schools parent organization
  representatives
Representatives of special committees
  and organizations
General public

Responsibilities of DAC Representatives

·         Attend meetings regularly
Notify alternate representative if unable to attend
Communicate all matters to each schools parent organization and
  other school groups
Disseminate appropriate information garnered at DAC meetings to
 school community through school newsletters, SSC and parent
meetings, etc.
Represent local school communities at the DAC meetings

 
Rights and Duties of Chairman:

The Chairman is elected by the Presidents of each schools parent organization:

·         To prepare an agenda for meetings in conjunction with the
Superintendent or District representative
To call meeting to order
To maintain order
To announce all business, making clear to members the questions
at issue
To provide follow-up opportunities on agenda items left incomplete
and/or any actions left pending at adjournment of the preceding
 meeting.
